Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary
Distributed between Gondia and Bhandara districts of Maharashtra, Nagzira is the lesser-known tiger sanctuary in India spread over 150 sq. km. It has got the serene landscape making this forest one of the most striking national parks in the state. Though tigers can be spotted when the forest is explored well and other attractions here include the presence of some of the endangered species like palm civet, small Indian civet, panther, flying squirrel and jackal.
Manas National Park
Even though it is the part of UNESCO World Heritage site, the Manas National Park is among the least visited tiger reserves in the country. Located in Assam, this national park has been known for Manas River passing through the heart of the forest and it is the leading tributary of Brahmaputra River. With the notable population of tigers, this forest has been listed by the Project Tiger Reserve. Along with it, the national park houses the rare wildlife sanctuaries, including hispid hare, Assam roofed turtle, pygmy hog, and golden langur.
Buxa Tiger Reserve
This tiger reserve is known for the lush green beauty of Buxa Hills located in the north of West Bengal and it houses some of the most striking landscapes of eastern India. It is located in Alipurduar district. The northern boundary of the reserve crosses around the Bhutan border. This forest will make up for the trip to Sundarbans with several glimpses to the Bengal Tiger. You can enjoy the sighting of endangered wildlife species and elephant rides including pangolin, clouded leopard, and Himalayan black bear.
Dudhwa Tiger Reserve
Located between Kheri and Lakhimpur districts of UP, the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve located closely to Nepal border. With the perfect blend of grasslands, marshes, and dense forests, the tiger reserve is the perfect treat for nature enthusiasts. Along with the huge population of tigers, forest houses the large number of swamp deer and various wildlife species, such as blue bull, elephant, sambar, otter, gharial and others.
Melghat Tiger Reserve
Located in Amravati District, the Melghat Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra was one of the few Project Tiger reserves. It is well covered by the Satpura mountain ranges and Tapti River. Along with tigers, forest is also the house for the eagles and other bird species. The Gugarnal National park also houses the core area of this reserve.
